Sam Charney, Charney Companies
Sam Charney is the founder and principal of Charney Companies. He is currently developing over two million square feet of mixed-use space in Long Island City, Williamsburg, and Gowanus. Charney’s project planning, design skills, construction management, and development experience make him one of New York City’s most respected and dynamic young developers.
He previously worked with Two Trees Management Co. LLC, where he spearheaded the development of over one million square feet of commercial office space and apartments. He also co-founded GreenStar Builders LLC, Two Trees’ construction company.
Charney has been featured and interviewed by several of the industry’s leading publications and is a guest lecturer at the Schack Institute of Real Estate at New York University. He sits on the boards of The Brooklyn Public Library and Pursuit, a 501(c)(3) based in Long Island City focused on adult education and job training.
He is the recipient of two Brooklyn Building Awards, the Queen’s Chamber Commerce Award and the NYU Bart Lawson Award for Humanitarianism.
These are some of the reasons why Sam Charney was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s first annual AB 100 Developer of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
