Benjamin Schall, AvalonBay
Benjamin Schall is AvalonBay’s CEO and President and has been a director of the company since January 2021. His job history includes executive positions at Seritage Growth Properties, Rouse Properties and Vornado Realty Trust.
AvalonBay is a leading multifamily REIT with a 30-year track record of developing, redeveloping, acquiring and managing distinctive apartment communities in some of the best U.S. markets across 12 states and Washington, DC. As of September 2025, the REIT has generated an 11.4% annualized shareholder return since its 1993 public offering.
Schall received his MBA from Harvard Business School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College.
