Robert E. Hart, TruAmerica Multifamily
Robert E. Hart serves as President and CEO of TruAmerica Multifamily and chairs TruAmerica’s Investment Committee. He launched TruAmerica in 2013, expanding the company’s footprint from a regional focus to a national leader of workforce housing.
TruAmerica consistently ranks as one of the National Multifamily Housing Council’s largest apartment owners—and is the highest-ranked firm based in Los Angeles. With nearly $16 billion in assets under management, a track record of over 100 realizations, and a national portfolio exceeding 60,000 units.
During the past year, Hart led TruAmerica through a $1.2 billion transaction pipeline, acquiring properties in Boston, MA; Asheville, NC; Orlando, FL; Plano, TX; Las Vegas, NV; Atlanta, GA; Nashville, TN; and Salt Lake City, UT.
Hart launched Building Better Communities, a podcast spotlighting leaders who are improving live, work and play places.
He serves on the board of the National Multifamily Housing Council and is involved in organizations such as the Urban Land Institute, the Pension Real Estate Association and the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate.
Hart is a member of the academic advisory boards of the UCLA Anderson School, the UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate, and the NYU Stern School of Business’ Chen Institute for Global Real Estate.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
These are some of the reasons why Robert Hart was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s first annual AB 100 Owner/Investor of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
