Daryl Carter, Avanath Capital Management
Daryl J. Carter is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Avanath Capital Management, LLC, bringing more than four decades of experience to the job.
Based in California, Avanath acquires, renovates, develops and operates apartment properties. Since its formation in 2008, the company has acquired $4 billion worth of properties in 15 states in the US, comprising 16,000 apartment units.
Prior to forming Avanath, Carter was an Executive Managing Director of Centerline Capital Group, an affiliate of Related Companies. He also co-founded and served as Co-Chairman of Capri Capital, an investment firm with $8 billion of real estate assets under management.
Carter is a Past Chairman of the National Multifamily Housing Council and currently serves on two company boards: Kilroy Realty Corporation, a public office REIT, and Bridge Housing, a non-profit housing developer. He received the MIT Sloan School Distinguished Alumni Award and was inducted into the Multifamily Executive Hall of Fame.
Carter holds an M.Architecture and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Michigan.
These are some of the reasons why Daryl Carter was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s first annual AB 100 Owner/Investor of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
