A real estate partner in Fried Frank’s Washington, DC, office, Valerie Kelly has led transactions and effectively tackled complex issues for prominent commercial real estate investors and developers, tenants and financial institutions. She has been instrumental in negotiating a broad range of real estate transactions, including commercial leases and headquarter relocations, as well as acquisitions and dispositions.

Notable experiences included representation of a Carr Property affiliate in Fannie Mae’s 700,000-square-foot headquarters lease in Washington, DC. Kelly also represented tenant Hospital for Special Surgery in its 200,000-square-foot lease in New York and landlord Olayan America in its 250,000-square-foot New York lease to Ace American Insurance Company.

Kelly serves as co-leader of Fried Frank’s Women’s Forum and is a founding member of Fried Frank’s Women in Real Estate group.

Kelly works with non-profit organizations including the Natural Resources Defense Council, New Leaders Sanctuary for Families and the Legal Aid Society of The District of Columbia. She previously served on the host committee for the Friends of the American University of Afghanistan’s annual DC gala and as a committee member for Lombardi Women.

She is recognized by Chambers and Partners in the Real Estate (District of Columbia). She has also been recognized as a Next Generation Lawyer by Legal 500, as a “Rising Star” in Real Estate in the Washington, DC – Metro editions of Super Lawyers, and in Real Estate Weekly’s list of Rising Stars in Real Estate.
