Sean Raft

Sean Raft is Urban Catalyst’s Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel. Raft has substantial experience in real estate, law, and securities, and provides senior fund management through supervision, analysis, and advice on company structure, compliance, finance, accounting, organizational and legal strategies, and oversight of relationships with the company’s outside third-party service providers specializing in those practice areas.

Raft has been responsible for building and managing the company’s internal infrastructure with respect to accounting, audit, tax, legal, compliance, and securities.  During his time at Urban Catalyst, Raft also structured and executed the company’s entry and strategic growth within select financial industries, including the Broker Dealer and Registered Investment Advisor networks.

He was admitted as a member of The Opportunity Zones Working Group, which advises the U.S. Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund, members of Congress, and other federal and state agencies on best practices and practical applications for the Opportunity Zone Program.

Raft has made numerous presentations about the Opportunity Zone tax structure and written several articles that have been published in industry periodicals. He recently formed the 506(c) Working Group to broaden industry awareness regarding specific investment vehicles for alternative investment products. 

These are some of the reasons why we are honoring Sean Raft with Connect CRE’s 2022 California Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
