Craig Ganz

Although he’s based in Partner Ballard Spahr’s Los Angeles and Phoenix offices, Craig Ganz’s practice spans the United States and its territories. He serves as Co-Leader of the Non-Bank Lending Team in the firm’s Banking and Financial Services Industry Group. In this role, his focus is on real property, retail/restaurant/hospitality, and finance/banking law. He’s recently focused his efforts on assisting clients with (COVID-19 related) distressed asset workouts on the banking and real estate sides.

On the litigation front, Ganz defends and prosecutes actions on behalf of corporate clients, including hotels, REITs, private equity groups, commercial real estate entities along with balance-sheet and non-traditional lenders, and borrowers. These matters typically involve distressed assets, lender liability claims, fraud actions, securities law violations and enforcement of real estate leases, broker commissions and real property purchase agreements.

In fiscal year 2021, Ganz and his team closed more than $2 billion in real estate and finance related transactions, involving private equity, REIT and education-based clients.

He’s a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, Maricopa County Bar Association, International Council of Shopping Centers, National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts and NAIOP. Ganz is also a guest lecturer at Arizona State University, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and serves as a Judge Pro Tempore with the Maricopa County Superior Court. He’s also been a presenter, speaker and author.

Ganz has been listed in the Legal 500 US, Real Estate–Real Estate Investment Trusts, Best Lawyers in America—Real Estate Law and Southwest Super Lawyers “Rising Star—Arizona,” Highly Regarded—Arizona and “Business Litigation.”
