Advised lenders on the $4.65 billion acquisition financing of Extended Stay America

Advised on the $1.9 billion CMBS component connect with the $12.8 billion acquisition of American Campus Communities

Over the past 15-plus years in the legal industry, Bonnie Neuman, Partner, Co-Chair of Finance Group and Head of Real Estate Finance Practice with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft’s New York office, has built a prolific practice that has helped earn her reputation as one of the top commercial real estate finance lawyers in the country.

Earlier this year, Neuman received the prestigious Law360 2022 MVP award for “Hospitality.” This reflected her efforts on behalf of advising lenders on high-profile deals, including the $4.65 billion acquisition financing of Extended Stay America and $1.9 billion CMBS component in connection with Blackstone’s $12.8 billion acquisition of American Campus Communities.

Neuman has also been early to market with her significant experience financing of “Final Mile” industrial properties (warehouses and distribution centers), as commercial real estate adapts to transformative changes in the consumer economy. She’s a member of Cadwalader’s Taskforce for the Advancement of Women and a member of the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. Outside the firm, Neuman is a member of the CREFC Women’s Network.

She is a previous recipient of Connect CRE’s “Lawyers in Real Estate” award, as well as being honored by Crain’s New York as one of the “Diverse Leaders in the Law” and “Notable Women in Law.” The Legal 500 recognized her as a Leading Lawyer, and Chambers USA ranked her for “Real Estate Finance—New York.”

These are some of the reasons why we are honoring Bonnie Neuman with Connect CRE’s 2022 New York Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
