Gerald Walsh

Gerald Walsh, a partner who serves as co-head of Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe Real Estate Group, is based in Los Angeles. He advises public and private entities, developers, companies and institutional lenders (including commercial banks, pension and opportunity funds and their advisors) on the acquisition, construction, development, entitlement, financing, leasing, restructuring and disposition of master planned communities, hotel, golf and resort projects, mixed use projects, corporate campuses, and commercial and retail centers.

He is highly regarded for his work with the acquisition, restructuring and realization of distressed debt in the real estate and hospitality markets. Notable experiences include leading a multidisciplinary Orrick team in a sophisticated real estate debt restructuring, one that involved a series of complex transactions and multi-state litigation.

Walsh also leads Orrick’s hospitality practice. In this role, he advises global opportunity, hotel and pension funds and advisors with the acquisition, repositioning and disposing of hotel portfolios throughout the United States. He’s worked with brands including Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, Marriott, St. Regis, Renaissance, Luxury Collection, Westin, Kimpton and other Sheraton/Starwood brands.

Walsh has been named Band 4 in Chambers USA: California Real Estate and ranked on The Legal 500: U.S. Real Estate as both Leading Lawyer and Recommended Lawyer. The Daily Journal also honored Walsh as “Dealmaker of the Year.”
