As Executive Committee member, provides strategic and legal advice to meet objectives

Nicole White is the Chief Legal Officer at commercial real estate services firm Avison Young. In her position, White is responsible for the overall management of Avison Young’s legal affairs. She provides the senior leadership team and Board of Directors with legal guidance that enables Avison Young’s objectives and shepherds the organization through complex business matters. During her time at Avison Young, White so far has provided legal counsel on more than a dozen acquisitions and 100 strategic hires.

She is a member of the Avison Young Executive Committee and the group’s Corporate Secretary. Here, she provides strategic and legal guidance to enable the achievement of Avison Young’s objectives. White was the first Black woman to be named principal at Avison Young and the first Black woman to join the C-Suite in the firm’s 40-year history.

White has also played a significant leadership role as the firm strengthened its Diversity & Inclusion strategy, serving as a founding member of the firm’s global D&I advisory and Black Professionals Employee Resource Group. While also serves as a mentor in Avison Young’s Women’s Network.

Outside of the office, White is a mentor for the Goldie Initiative and a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel.

These are some of the reasons why we are honoring Nicole White with Connect CRE’s 2022 Chicago & Midwest Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
