Emily Paparella
Created the master plan for One Simmons
Working with Skanska on a mixed-use project in the Longwood Medical Area
As a principal with Elkus Manfredi Architects, Emily Paparella leads the planning and design of complex, multi-stakeholder projects across the firm’s higher education, residential and mixed-use projects. She manages large design teams from concept through execution.
She created the One Simmons Campus Master Plan. She led the planning, regulatory, and delivery phases of a project that consolidated two separate campuses at Simmons University into a single academic environment.
Skanska also engaged Paparella to help direct a non-academic, mixed-use project, creating 2.6 acres of open space, more than 1.3 million square feet of Class A lab and office space and 380 housing units to create a nexus for research, work, and community engagement in the Longwood Medical Area.
Within Elkus Manfredi Architects, Paparella founded the Women’s Employee Resource Group (ERG) and later transitioned it to other women in the firm. She has served on the firm’s IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Awareness) committee and participates on the volunteer team.
She co-founded the CREW Boston Design and Development Group and the Boston Society for Architecture Mid-Career Mentorship Program.
Paparella is a CREW Boston board member and has been a long-time volunteer with the Boys and Girls Club of South Boston and the United Way Real Estate Breakfast Fundraising Committee.
These are just a few reasons Emily Paparella is among the Boston & New England Connect CRE 2025 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected leadership positions and taken on mentorship roles.
