As a Partner with Gibson Dunn’s New York Real Estate Practice Group, Matthew Gibbons represents major financial institutions, private equity funds, and institutional lenders in sophisticated real estate finance and investment matters. His practice spans the full capital stack, including acquisition, construction, mezzanine, and subordinate financings, as well as refinancings, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and developments.

He is also the Co-Chair of Hiring for Gibson Dunn’s New York office.

This past year, Gibbons advised on a $200-million loan-on-loan facility secured by pari passu notes with an aggregate face value of $250 million. He also represented a sponsor in a $580-million construction loan for a data center development in Virginia.

Outside of his practice, Gibbons serves on the board of The Brotherhood Sister Sol, a Harlem-based nonprofit dedicated to youth empowerment.

These are some of the reasons why Matthew Gibbons received Connect CRE’s 2025 New York & Tri-State Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
