Michael Rishty is co-head of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s Real Estate practice. He has experience in many aspects of real estate law, steering well over $1.7 billion worth of high-stakes transactions throughout the past year.

He represents many developers, owners and investors in New York and the United States on acquisitions, dispositions, development projects, financings and restructurings, preferred equity, joint ventures and sale-leaseback transactions. Rishty also advised Davis Polk in its recent lease renewals for its New York, Washington D.C. and Northern California offices. He led the effort to amend the firm’s approximately 700,000-square-foot lease at 450 Lexington Avenue, New York.

Other representations include advising El-Ad Group on securing a $250-million loan for the second phase of its Alina Residences in Boca Raton, FL. He also advised the Naftali Group on obtaining $236 million in construction financing for a luxury condominium in New York City.

Rishty is a thought leader in real estate and regularly presents and moderates panels for NYPEN Real Estate. Outside his practice, he is a trustee for the Citizens Budget Commission and president of the SAM School’s board of directors. He has spearheaded several pro bono real estate matters for the school, including buying a new school building and leasing additional space on the Upper East Side.

Rishty has been recognized by Chambers USA (Real Estate, Mainly Dirt, New York) and Super Lawyers (Super Lawyer, Real Estate, New York).
