Joshua Rinesmith is Co-Chair of the Akerman National Land Use and Development Practice Group. In this role, he develops and executes a strategy to grow the practice and client service offerings nationally. Rinesmith also leads the New York-based land use and zoning team.
Notable activities include leading the Akerman team that represented Arthur Kill Terminal LLC in securing several discretionary land use approvals to develop a 33-acre waterfront site on the southwestern shore of Staten Island. He also leads the team representing a developer in securing zoning entitlements for a mixed-use, $1-billion development project in Queens.
In addition to mentoring members of his practice group, Rinesmith is active with the New York City Bar Association, the Land Use, Planning, Zoning Committee, the ULI and NYSAFAH. Crain’s New York recognized him as a Notable Leader in Real Estate, and The Legal 500 has recommended him as a key lawyer in the Real Estate: Land Use/Zoning category.
This is why Joshua Rinesmith received Connect CRE’s 2024 New York & TriState Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
