Logos’ Martin Porter Builds $750-Million Affordable Housing Pipeline on Church Land
Pastor Martin Porter has built Logos Faith Development around an unusual premise: Underutilized church land can help address the affordable-housing shortage while preserving the broader community role of faith institutions.
Founded by Porter in 2017, Los Angeles-based Logos has a development pipeline valued at approximately $750 million, encompassing more than 2,000 affordable housing units in partnership with more than 15 faith-based organizations across Southern California.
Porter’s approach is built around the “Halo Effect” of faith-based institutions, which often provide services such as education, counseling, employment assistance and family support in addition to their primary missions. Logos partners with these organizations to unlock land for housing while integrating developments into existing community ecosystems.
Logos is planning 15 project groundbreakings between 2026 and 2028, including five in 2026, five in 2027 and five in 2028. The company also recently signed a long-term lease for approximately 5,000 square feet at 515 South Figueroa St. in Downtown Los Angeles, creating a central headquarters for its growing development team.
Before founding Logos, Porter held senior leadership positions at national and regional real estate firms, where he was recognized as a top producer and recruiter. His dual roles as developer and pastor inform a development philosophy centered on affordable housing, community stability and long-term social impact.
These are some of the reasons why Martin Porter was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Developer of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
