Led the delivery of the 20-story, mixed-use, 297-unit Maeve

Oversaw co-development of The Nickel Hotel in Charleston, SC

Natalie Mason is executive vice president/co-head of development at Capital Square. A national authority on opportunity zones, she has overseen and continues to manage development projects in markets including Raleigh, NC, Richmond, VA and South Carolina.

In Raleigh, Mason led the delivery of Maeve, a 20-story mixed-use tower with 297 luxury apartments and 10,000 square feet of retail space in a qualified opportunity zone. Mason oversaw the co-development of The Nickel Hotel, a boutique hotel in Charleston, SC.

Mason’s dedication to the firm’s opportunity zone developments has enabled Capital Square to become one of the industry’s major players. She has spoken on national panels, discussed proposals and legislative updates with senators on Capitol Hill, organized multifamily and opportunity zone development summits for investor audiences, worked directly with government and business leaders in multiple cities, and arranged construction site hard-hat tours, all while playing a key role in Capital Square’s numerous opportunity zone deliveries.

Additionally, Mason pioneered Capital Square’s partnership with FTI Consulting, a globally recognized consulting firm, to quantify job creation, GDP growth, and tax revenue generated from opportunity zone projects.

Mason mentors women and creates platforms, including her “Capital Conversations: Women Leading the Way” initiative and the “Pink Hard Hat Tour” event. With the latter, she partnered with the Raleigh, NC chapter of ULI’s Women’s Leadership Initiative to create a private tour of Maeve’s as well as a connected educational real estate investment seminar.

Mason has been named to the Real Estate Circle of Excellence at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Business.

These are just a few reasons Natalie Mason is among the Washington DC & Mid-Atlantic Connect CRE 2025 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected leadership positions and taken on mentorship roles.
