As the head of DLA Piper’s Washington, DC Real Estate practice, Amy Carbins has spearheaded some of the firm’s highest value and complex real estate transactions, including hyperscale data center developments, retail portfolio financings and multifamily acquisitions nationwide. She manages a team of 20 professionals in DC and leads project teams with up to 100 professionals across multiple projects.
Significant matters include involvement with the acquisition of 1,800 acres of rural land from over 90 sellers to be used for infrastructure and a hyperscale data center campus. She represented Transform Midco in the modification of its $460-million loan facility secured by a 99-asset retail portfolio. Carbins also worked with a private investment fund in a $575-million equity recapitalization of a 12-property, 4,000-unit multifamily portfolio.
Carbins’ volunteer activities include leadership in the Capital Area Food Bank. Within DLA Piper, she chairs the DC office’s FFTB drive. She is also a mentor and advocate for working parents and emerging professionals, investing significant time in training and guiding new lawyers to thrive in a demanding legal environment while balancing family life.
Chambers USA, Law360, The Legal 500 and GlobeSt.com/Real Estate Form have recognized Carbins. She has also received DLA Piper’s National Pro Bono Award.
