Led a team in representing the launch of a $1.5-billion real estate platform

Sam Alavi is a partner with Paul Hastings. He advises private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, and institutional investors on high-value nationwide real estate transactions, including development, acquisitions and dispositions, financings, and joint ventures.

Notable achievements include advising citizenM in the $355-million sale of branded and intellectual property to Marriott International. He led the team in advising BKM Capital Partners on launching a $1.5-billion real estate platform in collaboration with Kayne Anderson Real Estate.

Alavi is a member of the Milken Institute Chairman’s Circle, serves as the Executive Director of the United States and Gulf Cooperation Council Development Council and is an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California’s Sol Price School of Public Policy. He was honored by the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council as one of its “20 Under 40” award recipients.

These are some of the reasons why Sam Alavi received Connect CRE’s 2025 California Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
