Represented client with 20 self-storage property acquisitions, totaling $500 million

Led client in purchase of a 100-acre winery

Akerman Partner Rachel McRoskey represents clients in local and national real estate transactions. She guides institutional and non-institutional investors, sponsors, owners, and operators through complex acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, workouts, and dispositions of real estate asset classes. She recently led Akerman teams in closing some of the largest real estate transactions in Southern California.

One notable matter involved representing a client in the launch of a self-storage venture and handling 20 acquisitions nationwide, totaling $500 million. She also led the client in its buy of a 100-acre Santa Barbara winery, while negotiating an option to purchase two additional parcels.

McRoskey has played a role in the expansion of Akerman’s Los Angeles office, recruiting and mentoring attorneys and staff. As a member of the firm’s Real Estate Associate Training Committee, she conducts monthly training sessions through CLE presentations. Additionally, she is one of two Lateral Integration Partners for the Real Estate Practice Group, where she ensures the successful onboarding and integration of lateral hires.

These are some of the reasons why Rachel McRoskey received Connect CRE’s 2025 California Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
