Richard Simons, a member of Moore & Van Allen’s Commercial Real Estate Group, built and oversees a practice representing full-service commercial real estate firms in owning, leasing, managing and operating all asset classes. He represents borrowers with acquisition and construction financing, helps negotiate joint-venture agreements, commercial and real property sales agreements and membership interest purchase agreements on behalf of buyers.

Simons has advised on acquisitions and dispositions valued at over $933 million since 2020. Notable matters include the negotiation of a 1.0-million-square-foot, triple-net industrial warehouse lease to Twin Star Real Estate in South Carolina. He also negotiated a 10-year, 70,000-square-foot headquarters office lease to TTX Company in North Carolina.

Simons is a member of MVA’s Attorney Development Committee and participates in the firm’s Cross-team Mentoring Program.

He served as MVA’s founding steering committee member to establish the Charlotte Legal Initiative to Mobilize Business (CLIMB), which encourages volunteer attorneys to provide legal counsel to low-income business owners in under-resourced communities.

Simons has been recognized by the Best Lawyers in America, North Carolina Super Lawyers, Lawdragon 500X and GlobeSt/Real Estate Forum.
