Represented development company in former oil refinery site acquisition for brownfield redevelopment
Worked with SoCal developer to acquire and perform environmental due diligence on a 1,000-acre former manufacturing site
Alex Caruso is a leading real estate transactional attorney and a Cox, Castle & Nicholson’s Retail and Commercial Development Team and Environmental Team member. He handles various real estate transactions, including the purchase, disposition and financing of retail projects, hotels, undeveloped land, and retail and office leasing.
As a member of the Environmental Team, Caruso advises clients on brownfield redevelopment issues, federal and state regulatory compliance, developing and implementing environmental management systems, and dispute resolution.
Representations include a Los Angeles development company acquiring a former oil refinery site for brownfield redevelopment, including soil and groundwater remediation. Caruso also represented a Southern California developer in acquiring and performing environmental due diligence and remediation strategy for a 1,000-acre former manufacturing and military test site.
Caruso is co-chair of the Pepperdine University School of Law Dean’s Council and a United Friends of the Children Next Generation Board Member. He is an active member of the ICSC, American Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
