Breana Wheeler
Helped expand BREEAM's influence (and growth) in the United States
Has a leadership role in the company's ESG webinar series
As the director of operations for BRE’s BREEAM USA Platform, Breana Wheeler helps make the built environment more environmentally and socially sustainable while raising awareness among building investors, owners, occupiers, and the wider green building community of the benefits around deploying a thoughtful, science-backed approach to sustainability.
Wheeler provides owners and operators with a framework to successfully adopt sustainable solutions cost-effectively and communicate those efforts and successes to key stakeholders, including investors and tenants. Her ultimate goal is to reduce the negative effects of real estate development and operations on the environment while driving a direct ROI for asset stakeholders.
Though BREEAM has been established in Europe as the industry’s premier science-backed program, Wheeler played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s influence in the U.S. She propelled BREEAM’s growth — doubling the number of BREEAM-certified assets nationally in 2021 and achieving an almost 160% increase in certifications in 2022 — with momentum showing no signs of slowing.
Wheeler is involved with various environmental organizations and has a leadership role in BREEAM’s ESG webinar series.
These are just a few reasons we chose Breana Wheeler as one of the California Connect CRE’s 2023 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected leadership positions and play key mentorship roles for others.
