Directs asset management, capital improvements and tenant build-outs

Serves on the Virginia Beach Central Business District board

Shelly R. Hampton is the longtime President of Asset Management with Armada Hoffler in Virginia Beach. In her current role, Hampton leads a division that includes directors of asset management for the company’s commercial real estate and multifamily properties, as well as staff that oversees capital improvements and tenant buildouts.

When Hampton first joined Armada Hoffler in 1999 from JLM Holdings, the company owned 26 office and retail properties totaling 1.8 million. The company now has a diverse portfolio of 68 office, retail, multifamily and mixed-use properties totaling 6.3 million square feet across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast U.S.

Notable initiatives in the past 12 months include creating a post-earnings release video conference for employees to ask questions or seek clarification and launching a formal career development plan for employees to be mentored. She also inspires other women who navigate the historically male-dominated CRE industry.

Hampton focuses her civic and community involvement in the Virginia Beach Central Business District Association (CBDA), having served on the organization’s board for many years.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Shelly Hampton as one of Connect CRE’s Washington, DC 2022 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.
