Laca Wong-Hammond
Expert in formulating and executing creative transactions
Specializes in serving closely-held businesses that are multi-generational, partnerships or sole-proprietorships
As managing director, head of mergers & acquisitions at Lument, Laca Wong-Hammond is in charge of business development and management of Lument’s M&A team – specifically sell-side, buy-side, and strategic advisory services to owners and operators of skilled nursing facilities and seniors housing, as well as across the healthcare, housing, and commercial real estate continuums. Under Wong-Hammond’s leadership, the M&A group has expanded its scope of services and diversified clientele.
Wong-Hammond is an expert in formulating and executing creative transactions, including tax-advantaged structures. She has closed more than $10 billion of M&A and capital market transactions throughout her 20-year-plus career, including the acquisition and divestiture of assets, sale/leasebacks and capital placement of debt and equity across property types. She specializes in serving closely-held businesses that are multi-generational, partnerships or sole-proprietorships with a spectrum of transaction objectives that are often complex and competing.
In particular, Wong-Hammond has become a national expert on employee stock option plans (ESOPs), speaking at conferences and authoring articles about how ESOP transactions are becoming an increasingly popular financing solution for skilled nursing owner-operators, particularly those considering legacy planning or strategic alternatives such as a sale.
These are just a few of the reasons we chose Laca Wong-Hammond as one of Connect CRE’s National 2022 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.
