Joseph Keough Positions Wood Partners for Next Phase of Growth With ITOCHU Investment
Joseph Keough is positioning Wood Partners for another phase of growth after securing a strategic investment from Tokyo-based ITOCHU Corp. in late 2025.
As chairman and CEO, Keough oversaw the transaction that gave ITOCHU a 19.5% minority stake in the multifamily developer. The partnership provides Wood Partners with access to international capital and ITOCHU’s global investment expertise while giving the company additional resources to expand its U.S. development platform.
Keough joined Wood Partners in 2008 after serving as chief operating officer of Fuqua Capital, where he managed the Fuqua family office and investment strategy. Previously, he was senior vice president of development and investment strategy for Cousins Properties’ office and multifamily division and a principal at The Boston Consulting Group.
Under Keough’s leadership, Wood Partners continues to expand its geographic reach and development pipeline. The company has commenced construction on its Alta and Altera Heights communities in markets including North Carolina, Texas, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee, with a focus on market-rate and attainable housing.
Keough holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Babson College.
These are some of the reasons why Joseph Keough was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Developer of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
