Ryan Hekmat Builds Uncommon Developers Around Community, Modular Construction
Ryan Hekmat, co-founder and co-managing partner of the vertically integrated Los Angeles development firm Uncommon Developers, oversees acquisitions, entitlements, design, construction and property management alongside co-founder Jason Larian. The company’s portfolio includes multifamily, mixed-use and large-scale developments throughout Southern California.
One of its most notable projects is The 24, a 24-acre Chatsworth campus on the former site of a Los Angeles Times printing facility. The project includes nearly five acres of outdoor space, with four pools, dog parks, a community garden, walking paths, basketball and pickleball courts, a citrus grove and an outdoor movie theater. The campus also serves as the headquarters of MGA Entertainment.
Uncommon also is handling the six-story, 405-unit Uncommon Sepulveda, a six-story, 405-unit apartment project in Van Nuys.
Before launching Uncommon, Hekmat spent nine years in design and construction at Brookfield Property Partners after beginning his career with Arden Realty.
These are some of the reasons why Ryan Hekmat was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Developer of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
