Michael Pestronk Builds Post Brothers into Multifamily Enterprise
Michael Pestronk has spent two decades building Post Brothers into one of Philadelphia’s more prominent multifamily development and investment firms. As CEO, Pestronk oversees the company’s development and operating activities, helping to expand its platform since its 2006 founding.
Post Brothers has developed or acquired 40 properties featuring approximately 8,000 Class-A apartments that are operating, under development or have been disposed. The company’s portfolio also includes about 700,000 square feet of office and retail space. In total, Post Brothers has raised more than $500 million in equity and completed projects with a combined capitalized cost exceeding $4 billion.
Pestronk’s experience spans the full apartment ownership cycle, including acquisitions, financing, development, construction, management and leasing. Before joining Post Brothers, he worked with NWJ Companies and Historic Landmarks for Living and was a principal with Iron Stone Real Estate Group, where he was responsible for the repositioning, operations and capitalization of more than $300 million in real estate.
He also has made environmental sustainability a focus of his leadership. Since 2011, Post Brothers has been Philadelphia’s largest voluntary carbon-emissions offsetter, reflecting Pestronk’s effort to incorporate sustainability into the company’s development and operating practices.
These are some of the reasons why Michael Pestronk was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Developer of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
