Sea Breeze’s Darren Levitt Supports 222-Unit Affordable Project at San Diego’s North City
Darren Levitt, vice president and partner at Sea Breeze Properties, is helping oversee the development of one of North County San Diego’s largest mixed-use development efforts while advancing affordable housing within the 200-acre North City district.
Sea Breeze serves as master developer for the broader North City district, a large-scale community encompassing residential, retail, office and other uses.
Levitt handles Sea Breeze’s strategic growth in North County San Diego. His responsibilities include oversight of development, investment and management.
In 2025, the city of San Marcos, CA permitted North City Apartments, a five-story, 222-unit project at 337 Carmel St. The development will provide 100% low-income housing, with amenities that are uncommon among affordable projects.
A San Diego native, Levitt has a substantial record of civic and industry involvement. He serves on the California State University San Marcos University Council and the boards of The San Marcos Promise and University of California San Diego Real Estate & Development Advisory. He is a ride leader for the Challenged Athletes Foundation and a member of Urban Land Institute, where he previously co-chaired the Young Leaders Group.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics with an emphasis in environmental studies from the University of Michigan.
These are some of the reasons why Darren Levitt was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Developer of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
