Bob Faith Builds Greystar into a $350-Billion International Rental Housing Giant
Bob Faith founded Greystar in 1993 and has spent more than three decades building it into a global rental-housing powerhouse. Under his leadership, Greystar has grown from a U.S. manager of 9,000 units to an investment, development and management platform overseeing approximately $350 billion in real estate across 260 markets.
Today, Greystar is the largest U.S. apartment operator and manages more than 1 million units and beds globally across the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. Its institutional development platform includes more than $34 billion in assets under development.
Faith, Greystar’s Chairman and CEO, has emphasized an evergreen business strategy to help Greystar navigate real estate cycles while maintaining its entrepreneurial culture and investing in talent.
His industry recognition includes PERE’s North America Industry Figure of the Year award following Greystar’s 2018 acquisition of EdR. Faith has also been named a Glassdoor Top CEO every year since 2016.
Before founding Greystar, Faith worked at Trammell Crow Company and co-founded Starwood Capital Partners in 1991. He later served as South Carolina Secretary of Commerce from 2002 to 2006.
These are some of the reasons why Bob Faith was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Developer of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
