Justin Pattner Helps Expand KKR’s Real Estate Platform

Company:

KKR

Justin Pattner has been part of KKR’s real estate business since the beginning, joining the firm in 2011 to help establish its Global Real Estate platform. As a partner and head of Real Estate Equity for the Americas, he oversees the group’s investment strategy, asset management and fundraising, while serving on KKR’s real estate investment and portfolio management committees.

Pattner’s approach has emphasized selective deployment of capital toward property sectors supported by demographic and consumer trends, including multifamily.

In 2024, KKR acquired a 5,200-unit portfolio from Quarterra for approximately $2.1 billion, its largest multifamily investment to date. The firm has continued deploying capital in the sector, including recent acquisitions of newly constructed apartment communities in the Seattle area and a $250-million purchase of three Dallas apartment properties.

Pattner brought institutional real estate experience to KKR, having previously worked at Eton Park Capital Management, Lehman Brothers’ real estate private equity group and Lubert-Adler Partners. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania.

Beyond KKR, Pattner serves on the Americas Executive Committee of the Urban Land Institute and the Fisher Center Policy Advisory Board.

These are some of the reasons why Justin Pattner was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Investor/Owner of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
