Blima Ehrentreu Leads The Designers Group’s Growth Through Technology

Company:

The Designers Group

Blima Ehrentreu has worked in design and the built environment for more than 15 years. Her fascination with construction began at age eight, when her parents demolished and rebuilt the family home across the street and she watched the process daily. She pursued a master’s degree in interior design in Toronto and, in 2009, founded The Designers Group (TDG) on the principle of designing with purpose, so that every space measurably improves the lives of the people who use it.

From a Toronto studio, Ehrentreu built TDG into a multi-market firm, opening a New York office in 2016 and later expanding to Miami. Most recently she extended TDG to the West Coast through the acquisition of Interior Images, a firm specializing in healthcare and senior-living design, thereby deepening TDG’s footprint in the residential and senior-housing segments of the multifamily space.

Today, Ehrentreu leads a team of 40+ across offices in New York, Miami, Toronto and Los Angeles. Under her direction, TDG has completed 500+ projects spanning residential, senior living, healthcare, hospitality, workplace, institutional, and retail. Her multifamily-relevant work concentrates on senior living, multifamily residential interiors, mixed-use developments, and adaptive-reuse office-to-residential conversions.

Ehrentreu has made technology the engine of TDG’s growth. She was an early adopter of generative AI, VR/immersive visualization and construction ERP systems inside an interior-design practice, using them to compress project timelines, improve client decision-making and de-risk complex multifamily and adaptive-reuse projects.

These are some of the reasons why Blima Ehrentreu was selected to receive ApartmentBuildings.com’s AB 100 Innovators of the Year Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate creativity, skill and success in the multifamily industry.
