As a partner with Fried Frank’s Real Estate Department, Julianne Befeler advises developers, owners and financial institutions on a range of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, mortgage and mezzanine financing, construction financing, and office, residential, hotel, production studio and mixed-use project developments.  

Notable matters include representing Brookfield Asset Management in the $3.8-billion acquisition of Waterman Lodging Trust; Brookfield Properties in various construction loans and refinance activities involving the eight-acre, six-building mixed-use Manhattan West; and Blackstone in $1.1 billion of construction loans for nationwide industrial projects.

Befeler participates in various Fried Frank initiatives, including mentoring young attorneys and supporting the growth of women and diversity in real estate. She is one of three partners who lead the Fried Frank Real Estate Department’s “Diversity Champions Real Estate Pilot Program.” Befeler also participates in the firm’s Real Estate Law and Development Bridge Program in partnership with Project Destined.

In the community, Befeler offers pro bono representation, which gained her The Legal Aid Society’s Pro Bono Publico award for “Outstanding Service to The Legal Aid Society and its Clients.” She has also been honored by GlobeSt/Real Estate Forum (CRE Aspiring Leader) and Law360 (Rising Star).
