Lisa Sauer is a Member of Clark Hill’s Real Estate Practice Group and an adjunct to the firm’s Banking and Finance and Corporate groups. Her focus is on real estate lending, representing national, regional, and local banks, as well as private hard money lenders. She also handles commercial leasing, drafting and negotiating leases with mom-and-pop tenants and national retailers.
Since joining the firm in 2014, Sauer has helped build Clark Hill’s Chicago real estate practice from the ground up into a knowledgeable team that guides middle-market clients on a wide range of issues.
Notable matters include representing a regional bank in over $100 million in shopping center loans with collateral located in Midwest states. Sauer also represented a regional bank in industrial service and outdoor storage acquisition loans in California, New Jersey, Texas and Georgia.
Sauer’s community activities include serving on the board of a multicultural and bilingual behavioral health care and social services program. She was an adjunct professor for the Business Enterprise Law Clinic at the University of Illinois Chicago’s College of Law. She has been actively involved with various bar associations, including the Chicago Bar Association, where she served as the YLS Tax Co-Chair and the CBA Federal Tax Pass-Through Entities Chair. She is also involved with the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Real Estate Finance Forum.
She is a Fellow with the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and recognized by The Best Lawyers in America (Real Estate Law) and Crain’s Chicago Business (Notable Women in Law). Additionally, the Illinois Real Estate Journal honored the Chicago Real Estate Group at Clark Hill as the best Real Estate Law Firm of the Year.
