Partnered with agencies and stakeholders to generate $2.6 million in rental assistance

Strengthened fraud prevention tactics by working with tech providers.

As Associate General Counsel, Cherry Malichi is involved with Progress Residential’s operations, including construction, personnel and resident care. She develops resident-centered legal strategies to protect the business and support local communities.

In one instance, she and her team developed partnerships with 500 outside agencies and collaborated with internal stakeholders to generate over $2.6 million in rental assistance. The move promotes nationwide housing stability for residents. Malichi also assisted in fraud prevention enhancements by partnering with technology providers to strengthen ID verification. Malichi also helped establish Progress Residential’s government affairs function.

She recently led in-person legal training sessions for market operations teams, providing tools to help navigate complex resident issues while emphasizing legal compliance and doing the right thing for the residents and communities Progress serves.

Beyond her corporate role, Malichi is an active member of the Association of Corporate Counsel and regularly participates in its Arizona chapter events.

These are some of the reasons why Cherry Malichi received Connect CRE’s 2025 Phoenix & Southwest Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
