Leads team of seasoned healthcare real estate lawyers and professionals

Under her direction, team manages over 400 transactions annually

As Co-Deputy Chair of Akerman’s Real Estate Practice Group, Allison Nelson leads a team of healthcare real estate attorneys and professionals in its representation of healthcare systems.

The team handles real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint venture developments and leasing agreements. The client list includes national healthcare organizations, a leading dialysis provider and prominent regional medical practice groups. Nelson’s team manages over 400 transactions annually.

Notable matters include representing an insurance and managed care company in nationwide lease, sublease, and acquisition transactions, totaling over three million square feet and valued at over $175 million in base rent and sublease rent. Nelson also advised on multiple land purchases that support large medical office building developments in Texas, several of which will exceed 100,000 square feet with construction budgets exceeding $100 million.

Nelson serves on Akerman’s Board of Directors and chairs the Women’s Bridge Network (WBN). For the past five years, she volunteered her expertise to the Practising Law Institute (PLI), delivering presentations on medical office and life sciences leases.

She is committed to philanthropy and community engagement, volunteering to teach Tai Chi to individuals with Parkinson’s disease and seniors.

These are some of the reasons why Allison Nelson received Connect CRE’s 2025 Phoenix & Southwest Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
