Rob Bewkes
One of the firm’s founding members and initial leaders
Closed the first C-PACE financings in several states
Nuveen Green Capital’s Head Counsel, Rob Bewkes, is one of the company’s original leaders. He has helped guide, build, and shape the firm, which now manages over $4 billion in assets under management, while influencing the broader Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) industry.
Bewkes supervises a team of attorneys who collectively are responsible for closing more than 700 C-PACE financing transactions across 32 states and the District of Columbia.
He has played a pivotal role in expanding the financing product by advising state and local governments on the creation, optimization and implementation of C-PACE programs and policies.
Bewkes closed many first-of-their-kind transactions, including the first C-PACE financings in several states, which were secured by a leasehold interest in the underlying real estate. Most recently, he worked on the $290-million financing of the Pendry Hotel & Residences in Tampa, FL, the largest C-PACE transaction closed to date.
An active participant in C-PACE trade associations, Bewkes has appeared before groups sponsored by PACENation and the Connecticut Bar Association to speak on C-PACE topics. These are some of the reasons why Rob Bewkes received Connect CRE’s 2025 National Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
