Worked on behalf of a client to secure a $280-million construction loan

DLA Piper Partner Thanos Matthai guides institutional investors and owners through complex, high-value real estate transactions nationwide. He handles acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and financings across various asset classes, including multifamily, office, retail, life science, and digital infrastructure.

Recent matters include leading the team that represented ASB Capital in its $197-million sale of a 131,000-square-foot mixed-use retail and office building portfolio in New York City to Blackstone.

He also worked on behalf of Related Beal in securing a $280-million construction loan from Santander Bank and a lender syndicate for the ground-up build of a 345,000-square-foot life sciences development in Boston’s Seaport district. Upon completion, the building will be occupied by Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

Matthai also represented AEW Capital Management in its $320-million sale of 250 Park Ave. in New York to JPMorgan Chase and Hines.
