Catherine Burns is a partner in Seyfarth’s Real Estate department and co-chair of the firm’s Development practice. She represents real estate funds, developers, owners, and operators in a wide range of investment transactions, including joint ventures, acquisitions, development, financing, and leasing.

Her practice spans multiple asset classes, including office, retail, multifamily, and industrial. She advises clients on portfolio transactions and complex deal structuring, with a focus on aligning legal strategy with business objectives.

Burns’ notable matters range from representing developers to secure construction financing to leading teams in handling multimillion-dollar acquisitions and loan transactions.

Burns mentors attorneys through Seyfarth’s LDC program and Income Partner Coaching initiative, helping guide professional development across the firm. Her industry and community involvement include serving on the Board of Directors and the Building Committee of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, as well as advocacy and fundraising efforts for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

She continues to be recognized by Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, and The Legal 500. Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly also included her on its “Go To Lawyers” list for Commercial Real Estate.
