In addition to other areas, VanCanagan specializes in complex land use matters, including subdivision and zoning law, where he represents private landowners and developers before state and federal regulatory agencies.

He graduated from Stanford University with an undergraduate degree in economics. He then obtained his JD from the University of Montana and earned a master’s of law degree from Boston University.
