Mark Silverman is a Locke Lord Chicago office partner and serves as its Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) Special Servicer Team Leader. He handles issues involving creditors’ rights, loan workouts, bankruptcy and loan enforcement across multiple sectors and industries. Silverman advises large, midsized and small banks, financial institutions, financial technology companies across the country, and the nation’s largest CMBS special servicers.
His work involves many sectors, including retail shopping centers and strip malls, hospitality and hotels, commercial and multi-family real estate, healthcare and medical facilities, industrial, manufacturing, transportation, and more esoteric assets such as taxicab medallions and golf courses.
Among his recent activities, Silverman obtained a final foreclosure order and title transfer in a receiver lien foreclosure matter, overcoming the titleholder’s objections. He also represented CMBS special servicers in enforcing rights and remedies under loan documents tied to defaulted commercial real estate loans, including resolving a complex bankruptcy matter for a favorable recovery for the interested stakeholders.

He is a Board Member of the Turnaround Management Association and teaches a municipal receivership for the city of Chicago. He can also be found performing at charity fundraisers as his band’s lead singer/rhythm guitar player, Adequate Protection.
