Practice focuses on counseling and representing HOAs

Works with property managers and boards of directors

A partner and shareholder at Chestnut Cambronne, Gretchen Schellhas focuses her legal practice on real estate, particularly counseling and representing homeowners associations. From condominiums to townhomes to single-family common interest communities, Gretchen advises these clients, drawing on more than a quarter century of experience in real estate law.

She works with property managers and board directors to meet the varied needs of association clients, including declarant/developer turnover, contract interpretation, enforcement issues, defense of claims, document revision, and assessment collection.

Schellhas has been named as a Minnesota Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers magazine.

Schellhas regularly speaks to association-related trade groups of property managers, board members, and vendors about association-related topics for attorneys’ continuing legal education. She is a regular presenter at the Minnesota Real Estate Institute.

She is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Bar’s Residential Real Estate Committee, and the Hennepin County Bar Association. Schellhas has also been a member of the Minnesota Women’s Consortium Steering Committee, a Minnesota Women’s Political Caucus officer, and on the Education Committee for the Minnesota Chapter of the Community Associations Institute.

This is why Gretchen Schell has received Connect CRE’s 2024 Chicago & Midwest Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
