Spencer Reed is the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Matthews Real Estate Investment Services. He specializes in complex commercial litigation, arbitration, and appeals in commercial real estate. His focus includes commercial real estate brokerage, employment, and compliance.

Reed oversees the company’s legal departments, which include risk management, compliance services, and company policies. He works alongside Matthews executive’s legal team on various matters. He was promoted to his current executive-level position in 2024.

Under his guidance, Matthews successfully opened over five offices. He continues to help expand brokerage coverage from a legal perspective and looks nationwide for new opportunities and top talent.

Reed has been a resource to the entire company, answering any questions that executives, employees or agents have. He proactively addresses legal challenges during the execution of new processes and initiatives. As a mentor to coworkers within the legal department, Reed helps the career development and expertise of those around him. His work has improved the legal department’s success rate and efficiency. 

These are some of the reasons why Spencer Reed received Connect CRE’s 2024 Atlanta & Southeast Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
