Vocal advocate for access to the Housing Choice Voucher program

As Executive Vice President, Head of Government Affairs & General Counsel at Progress Residential, Ama Romaine manages a legal, compliance and government affairs portfolio. She also plays a key role in guiding the company’s mission to provide safe, affordable and sustainable housing.

Romaine led the way in successfully implementing the Georgia Squatters Reform Act, which enables property owners and managers to collaborate with law enforcement to eliminate blight in communities.

Romaine has also been a vocal advocate for Progress Residential’s work to expand access to the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. She also organized Progress Residential’s inaugural Safety Summit: Safe Housing in Thriving Communities in Atlanta. The summit brings together housing experts, law enforcement and public officials.

She is a mentor and vocal advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion within Progress Residential and the broader real estate and legal sectors. Additionally, she participates in thought leadership platforms that develop the next generation of real estate leaders, such as the Cornell Hotel School’s Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series and the Real Estate Advisory Council at Boston University.

This is why Ama Romaine received Connect CRE’s 2024 Atlanta & Southeast Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
