Jamie Schwedler
Led team in acquisition and development of a mixed-use, 10-acre project
Led team in the zoning of the 1,000-acre Centennial Campus at North Carolina State University
Jamie Schwedler is a partner at Parker Poe law firm in Raleigh, NC. For the past decade, she has been instrumental in some of North Carolina’s most important real estate development and redevelopment projects that have shaped communities, towns, and cities and land use legal standards. She has advised trade associations, advocacy groups, and clients on new legislation and amendments to existing legislation to better clarify the interpretation. Her cases have involved complicated issues with statutory interpretation, vested rights, standing, and constitutional rights.
With her longtime colleague Russell Killen, Schwedler created a development services industry team at Parker Poe that focuses on legal services for developers from land use and zoning through construction and operations. Schwedler chairs the interdisciplinary development services industry team with over 45 attorneys working in various aspects of development across multiple states and leads a North Carolina land use team of over ten attorneys.
Schwedler led a team representing investors and developers in a mixed-use 10-acre development site in downturn Durham. She also led a team representing North Carolina State University to modernize the zoning of Centennial Campus, a 1,000-acre research and development campus.
Her leadership position in the firm is complemented by the leadership positions in the greater land use, legal, and business communities, including the Urban Land Institute (ULI), North Carolina Bar Land Use Section, Wake County Bar Association and Clemson Architectural Foundation Board of Trustees. She also volunteered and held leadership positions with civic organizations, like the Boys and Girls Club of Wake County. Schwedler mentors young lawyers, focusing on supporting and sponsoring women in the legal profession.
These are some of the reasons why Jamie Schwedler received Connect CRE’s 2024 Atlanta & Southeast Lawyers in Real Estate Award. The award celebrates real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice and the larger community.
