Conducts research to aid in designs of equitable office space
Leads a 40-person team at the design-build firm
As the Senior Principal and head of design for Unispace in the Americas, Aimee Collins is a mentor, teacher, manager and support system for the 40-person team she leads at the global design-build firm. She leads Unispace’s entire design team in the Americas.
She works closely with the Unispace preconstruction team, ensuring everyone operates cohesively and productively. She is always looking for ways to make things more efficient and conducts regular training to ensure her team is on the cutting edge of design trends and applications.
Before joining Unispace in 2014, Collins was with Washington Mutual. She then moved to Freiheit Architecture, where she quickly earned a promotion to Principal and developed the firm’s interior architecture group from scratch.
One project in which she has been involved is the design of a truly equitable office. She leads the charge to conduct interviews with a wide range of communities, including those with disabilities, ethnic and racial minorities, LGBTQIA+ people and the neurodiverse, to understand what’s missing for them in the workplace and which amenities could be added that would improve their lives. This essential research will help inform Unispace clients on incorporating DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging) policies, amenities and values into corporate cultural fabrics.
These are a few reasons we chose Aimee Collins as one of the Seattle & Northwest Connect CRE’s 2023 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected leadership positions and play key mentorship roles for others.
