Katie Kurtz
Restructured Silverstein's accounting and finance teams
Serves as a mentor to those inside and outside of the organization
As an experienced finance executive with over 15 years of success in the financial services sector, Katie Kurtz is responsible for Silverstein Properties’ finance and accounting organization. Over the past couple of years, Silverstein has become a more sophisticated real estate company from a corporate finance and financial reporting point of view. Kurtz has a long and accomplished history working as a CFO for real estate companies that own properties and have also raised and managed funds.
Since joining Silverstein in 2021, Kurtz successfully restructured the accounting and finance teams as the company grew and diversified. In the past few years, Silverstein raised two funds with large institutional sponsors and increased the number of markets in which it raised debt to finance its activities. Kurtz was the point person who brought all these teams together, understood all the company’s lines of business and moved the firm beyond financial impasses.
Kurz is a great mentor and coach to many people inside and outside the organization. She has created many opportunities for her team to pursue what they enjoy working on and to grow within their positions. She guides them in interacting with senior management, pursuing networking opportunities and building their brands within the organization.
These are a few reasons we chose Katie Kurtz as one of the New York & Tri-State Connect CRE’s 2023 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected leadership positions and play key mentorship roles for others.
