Vice Chairman Michael Mele leads Cushman & Wakefield’s national Self-Storage Advisory Group in Tampa. In this role, he works closely with private owners, institutional owners, and investors around the country to maximize their self-storage real estate value.
During 2022, Mele and his team closed on 68 transactions with a sales volume of more than $1.8 billion. Notable transactions included St. Pete Urban Storage, a 61,152-square-foot self-storage facility in St. Petersburg, FL, which sold for $22.9 million. The transaction set a new price-per-square-foot record for self-storage facilities in the area.
Another highlight involved the sale of the 79,325-square-foot Tampa Causeway Self-Storage in Tampa, FL. The facility sold for $26.7 million.
Mele began his career in 1999, Since then, he and his team closed more than 700 transactions totaling more than $8.5 billion. With more than two decades of experience as a self-storage advisor, Mele is consistently recognized by industry organizations as well as national trade publications for his critical leadership, expertise and knowledge of the self-storage industry.
