The Agency team at Avison Young’s Fort Lauderdale office had another noteworthy year, with a variety of leasing transactions in all of the South Florida submarkets in which they work. During 2022, the group closed 67 deals spanning 1.2 million square feet, at a consideration of $254 million. The numbers supported a record year in production and volume for the South Florida team.
The team consists of Justin Cope (Principal), Lisa Blumer (Vice President), and Greg Martin (Principal and Fort Lauderdale Managing Director).
One particular deal of note in 2022 involved the University of Miami expansion lease at the 101,851-square-foot SVT Crossroads Business Park III in Plantation, FL. The deal required a few years to close (partly due to COVID-19). It ultimately involved an extended lease agreement and expansion into the facility’s entire space, which created a single-tenant building controlled by the University of Miami Medical Group.
The building eventually sold to anchor Medical Properties for $45.5 million. Avison Young had been approached by Colliers International about submitting an unsolicited offer to purchase the building.
