Leslie Tomczak is Akerman’s first woman Office Managing Partner in the Fort Lauderdale office, serving in this capacity for approximately five years.

She is a construction attorney, Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Construction Law. Her practice focuses primarily on representing lenders, developers, owners, landlords, contractors, subcontractors, architects and other design professionals, in a wide range of complex construction contract, project administration, lien, and construction litigation matters. Tomczak is also a LEED Accredited Professional who represents clients with respect to sustainable building issues.

Notable projects included lead construction counsel in representation of one of the country’s leading investment firms in its Opportunity Zone REIT. Ongoing projects with this client include drafting and negotiating design and construction agreements for communities in the southeast. She is also a member of a team of Akerman lawyers, acting as primary construction counsel for a major cruise line’s $300-million-mega cruise terminal and lead construction counsel for a $250-million hotel renovation and development.

Tomczak is an active member of the Construction Law Committee of the Florida Bar and writes frequently on matters relating to construction contracting in Florida. She also mentors younger attorneys, teaching them construction law from a practical viewpoint.

She believes in serving the community and is involved with Akerman’s community engagement activities. Additionally, she is a volunteer and contributor at Flight Center, serves on the Friends Board for Jack And Jill Children’s Center and serves on the advisory board of ULI Southeast Florida/Caribbean.
