Equity Residential

Has developed and implements the company's environmental compliance, resilience and adaptation programs

Active in real estate organizations and with local governments

In her role as Equity Residential’s Assistant Vice President, Environmental and Climate Adaptation, Rebecca Becker’s responsibilities include taking the lead on the company’s energy initiatives. Equity Residential complies with multiple state and local regulations, as it seeks to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.

Becker joined the company in 2005. Since that time, she developed and implemented Equity Residential’s environmental compliance, environmental and resilience and adaptation programs. All of this was completed and implemented before resilience and sustainability became a hot industry topic.

She is active in many real estate organizations and with many local governments. Becker is a member of ULI’s Coastal Forum and REBNY’s Sustainability Committee, where she works with that organization’s resilience group. She is also involved with the City of Seattle’s Building Performance Standards Technical Advisory Group and the ASTM Committee responsible for developing the Guide for Property Resilience Assessment.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Rebecca Becker as one of the Chicago & Midwest’s 2022 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.
